Kenneth Omeruo Biography

As a defender for Segunda Division club Leganés and the Nigerian national team, Kenneth Josiah Omeruo was born on October 17, 1993, in Lagos, Nigeria. In January 2012, Omeruo joined Chelsea from Standard Liège and was immediately loaned out to ADO Den Haag. After impressing in the Eredivisie, he was called up by the Nigerian national team when he was just 19.

Omeruo has represented Nigeria at both the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations and the 2013 Confederations Cup in Brazil, making him a regular international player. Prior to signing for Standard Liège, Omeruo spent time with Sunshine Stars and Anderlecht as a trialist. Chelsea acquired Liège’s Omeruo in January 2012 and loaned him to Eredivisie side ADO Den Haag immediately after.

Omeruo signed a new three-year contract with Chelsea in May 2021 when Ado Den Haag was in need of a loan. An 18-month loan agreement with ADO Den Haag kept Omeruo in the club’s system through the end of the 2012–13 season.

Against SC Heerenveen on March 3, 2012, Omeruo made his professional debut for ADO Den Haag. Omeruo scored his first goal for ADO Den Haag against FC Groningen on April 19, 2012. Omeruo scored in the 19th minute against VVV-Venlo on April 28th, 2012.
